Campaign sign set on fire in Vernon election race

Campaign sign torched

An election campaign sign was set on fire and vandalized in Vernon over the weekend.

A large sign for council candidate Brian Guy was set on fire overnight Sunday at the corner of Highway 97 and 25th Avenue.

The sign was also vandalized with Sharpie doodles on Guy's face.

A large, burnt hole could be seen in the sign on Monday.

It's not the first case off sign vandalism in Vernon during this campaign.

Signs for mayoralty candidates Victor Cumming and Scott Anderson have also been vandalized.

Voters go to the polls on Oct. 15.
