Best known for his role in co-founding Armstrong Metalfest, Jessie Valstar is looking to make a difference in his community.
So he decided to run for Armstrong council
As a husband, father of three boys under seven, a musician and local entrepreneur, Valstar says he believes in "putting in the effort to get things done."
Valstar hopes to have his voice represent young families, small businesses and young adults in the North Okanagan.
Valstar worked full-time at Askews Foods after he graduated from Pleasant Valley Secondary School in 2007 and during his time at the Armstrong store got to know many people in the community.
Valstar says his "passion for the community, its people and the issues they face" has never wavered.
Neither has his passion for music. He currently plays bass in Odinfist, a band he’s played with for more than 16 years.
Eligible voters will head to the polls Oct. 15.
