Interior Health has confirmed one person died from COVID-19 resulting from an outbreak at the Polson Special Care Unit in Vernon.
In a brief statement to Castanet News, Interior Health officials say the outbreak at the care unit resulted in 12 cases of COVID-19, one hospitalization and one death.
The outbreak was declared over last Saturday.
A second facility-wide COVID-19 outbreak has also been declared at Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong.
According to officials, the outbreak, which was declared Sept. 14, has affected 22 people to date.
