Township of Spallumcheen deactivates Emergency Operations Centre, Stepney Road reopens

Spall deactivates EOC

The Township of Spallumcheen has deactivated its Emergency Operations Centre as flood fears have receded.

In a press release Thursday afternoon, the township says Stepney Road is now fully open to traffic.

"The southern portion of our community is no longer on a stream flow advisory, and the northern portion is on a flood watch as per the map posted on the river forecast centre. With the current flows, Township crews will continue monitoring the creeks and culverts twice a day," the township said.

"Conditions on Stepney Road have continued to improve and the road is now fully opened."

Photos show just a small amount of water at the sides of the road near Stepney Cross Road as floodwater on Fortune Creek have subsided.

Remaining creeks and culverts are flowing normally, the township says.

Sandbagging stations remain set up at the public works shop located on Eagle Rock Road, and at the intersection of Stepney Cross Road and Stepney Rd North for those residents who need them.

The EOC had been active since June 15 at Level 1 due to localized flooding.
