Supply chain issues delay completion of Vernon's new Civic Memorial Park

Park completion delayed

Completion of Vernon's new Civic Memorial Park has been hit by supply chain issues.

Work continues on the park at the former site of the old Civic Arena.

However, a report to city council notes there have been supply chain delays that have pushed substantial completion "from mid-July to at least the end of July."

As the work moves into July, administration is expected bring back an update on a recommended opening date for the park.

Some outstanding furniture will be installed in the fall, along the park meadow, as scheduled.

There have also been some "minor changes" to park furnishings and signage to manage the budget, the report notes. It did not go into detail.

Meanwhile, administration has been working with an architect on renovations to the washroom building, with the goal of opening it in late 2022 or early 2023.
