A Compassionate Friends fundraiser planned for June aims to be an annual event.
The event will take place at Wings Restaurant in Vernon on June 21 in support of The Compassionate Friends organization's annual retreat at Whatshan Lake.
The September retreat "is all about living with the loss of a loved one and finding joy," says Wing's Katie Dahl.
TCF's Kelli Rose is "a bundle of joy and energy, and we are excited to partner with her," says Dahl.
The event includes a 5 p.m. reception, dinner, keynote speaker and silent auction.
Its theme is "Your Life is Now."

"Whether your family has had a child die ... or you are trying to help those who have gone through this life-altering experience, The Compassionate Friends exists to provide friendship, understanding, and hope to those going through the natural grieving process," the organization says.
