Spring Fair returns to historic Fintry Estate this weekend

Spring Fair returns to Fintry

Celebrate spring – and mom – this Sunday at the Fintry Estate.

The Friends of Fintry are restarting their Mother’s Day Spring Fair after a three-year lapse.

Now that spring has sprung, take a scenic drive along Westside Road and check out displays on gardening, food, arts and crafts, and more at the historic estate in Fintry Provincial Park, halfway between Vernon and Kelowna on Westside Road.

There will be musicians performing all day, games and activities for kids, and food trucks on site.

The fair runs from 10 to 4 p.m. on the manor house grounds.

Entry is by donation and guided tours are available all day. Visit fintry.ca for more info.

Capt. James Cameron Dun-Waters was known as the Laird of Fintry.
1864 to 1939

Born into Scottish gentry, he came to Canada in 1909 and within a year had bought the Fintry Delta on the west side of Okanagan Lake.

He built an elaborate water system that turned the delta into a productive farm and several heritage buildings that remain to this day.

He was also a director of the CPR and played strong roles in the BC Fruit Growers Association, the Armstrong Exhibition organization and curling clubs from Vernon to Vancouver.
