Vernon's Upper Room Mission has added a new feature that is sure to be welcomed by the city's homeless population.
The downtown mission, which offers meals and emergency services to the less fortunate now has a shower for clients' use.
"We have a shower! ... This is a big deal for the Upper Room Mission and the first time we have had a shower program," the mission posted on its Facebook page, Wednesday.
The project came about with funding from Community Foundation North Okanagan, along with partners the Social Planning Council of the North Okanagan, builder-renovator Harold Van Boven, and contributors Arden Tile, Okanagan Fusion Mechanical, Homestead Drywall, Laird Steward and Ned Lockhart.
"When God wants something to happen, he brings the right people together!" mission management enthused.
