Downtown Vernon Association announces new executive director

New face of the DVA

There's new – and familiar – face at the helm of the Downtown Vernon Association.

The DVA announced Keelan Murtagh as its new executive director on Thursday.

Murtagh moved to Vernon from the Kootenays in 2014 to start a family with his wife.

Since then, he has immersed himself in the North Okanagan, working at SilverStar Mountain Resort, Wayside Press, SQM Group, and by volunteering with organizations including the DVA.

Murtagh spent two years on the DVA board (2018-2020) and is familiar with the "opportunities and challenges facing our downtown members," the business association says.

"I'm very excited to be a part of the DVA again," said Murtagh. "There are so many hard-working people in the 46 city blocks we call downtown."

He continued: "They put everything they have into making it a place you'll want to visit and return to. I get to support those efforts and strengthen the heart of our community. What could be better?"
