Teresa Durning announced as the city councillor elect in the Vernon byelection

Durning looks to take seat

Teresa Durning has been called the unofficial winner of the Vernon municipal byelection, according to The City of Vernon.

The preliminary results from ballots cast in advance, mail-in, and regular polls on Saturday indicate that Durning is the Councillor Elect, receiving 443 of the 1631 ballots cast.

The following is a list of preliminary results:

  • Teresa Durning - 443 votes
  • Catherine Lord - 429 votes
  • Ed Stranks - 244 votes
  • Stephanie Hendy - 107 votes
  • Kevin Demers - 103 votes
  • Jamie Morrow - 83 votes
  • Sherrilee Franks - 76 votes
  • Erik Olesen - 59 votes
  • Flora Evans - 53 votes
  • Arthur Gourley - 28 votes
  • Andy Wylie - 6 votes

The preliminary results are based on the ballot accounts prepared at each voting place and are subject to determination of official election results by the Chief Election Officer, Keri-Ann Austin.

These results will be confirmed on Wednesday, Dec. 8 and the winner will be sworn in during a special meeting of council on Dec. 14.
