Wings Vernon is holding a fundraiser Dec. 8 to get the WL Seaton girls volleyball team to the provincials

Wings helps team take flight

A Vernon restaurant is helping a high school volleyball team take flight.

Wings Vernon will be holding a fundraiser Wednesday for the WL Seaton senior girls volleyball team.

The team recently won the AAA Valley title for fifth consecutive year and is now setting their sights on the provincial title.

The problem is, recent flooding has made travelling to the Lower Mainland by vehicle nearly impossible, so Wings is raising money to send the team by air.

Wings is going to help put some "wings" on the athletes and on Dec. 8 the eatery will donate the proceeds of each pound of wings sold to get the athletes to the provincial event.

“Wings Vernon is asking everyone to come in and get some wings,” said owner Sherman Dahl. “Buy a pound of wings, add a few bucks, and Wings Vernon will match all donations and will also give anyone that donates a gift certificate for a free pound of wings for their next visit to Wings.”
