More schools in North Okanagan-Shuswap listed by Interior Health for COVID exposures

Exposures at local schools

Several schools in the North Okanagan have been added to Interior Health’s potential COVID exposures list.

Interior Health warns of five schools in Vernon School District 22 with potential exposures:

  • Hillview Elementary (Vernon): Nov. 15 and 16
  • J.W. Inglis Elementary (Lumby): Nov. 15, 16, 17 and 18
  • Charles Bloom Secondary (Lumby): Nov. 17 and 18
  • Alexis Park Elementary (Vernon): Nov. 16, 17, 18 and 19
  • Ellison Elementary (Vernon) Nov. 15, 16 and 17

In SD83 North Okanagan-Shuswap, three schools are listed, including M.V. Beattie Elementary (Enderby) with exposures on Nov. 15, Salmon Arm Secondary (Sullivan Campus) Nov. 18 and 19, and Grindrod Elementary on Nov. 16 and 17.

Shuswap Adventist School is the only independent school in the region with recent exposures, those being on Nov. 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19.

The IH school exposure website says when a school staff member or student tests positive for COVID-19, public health will notify staff and students who need to take a specific action, such as self-monitoring or isolation, as a result of a COVID-19 exposure.

Interior Health will post exposure notifications when a staff member or student attended school while infectious and there is a possible risk of exposure to COVID-19.
