Flora Evans seeking seat on Vernon city council in Dec. 4 byelection

Evans seeks fresh ideas

Castanet has given each of the Vernon council byelection candidates the opportunity to introduce themselves on video and present their reasons for running.

This is Flora Evans first foray into Vernon politics.

Evans says she is running “to add fresh, new ideas to city council. I'm standing up for our climate change plan in Vernon and climate change in general.”

Evans said she would also like better fire protection for the city and a fire break between the city and the lake.

“I don't want to go through that trauma again and I'm sure you don't,” she said.

Evans said she is also against raising taxes this year because of the “terrible economic recovery we are in.”

The byelection was called earlier this year after the passing of former Coun. Dalvir Nahal.

Election night is Dec. 4.
