Island Lake Lodge adventure among Kalamalka Rotary Club Dream Auction items

Legacy fund matches bids

The Kalamalka Rotary Club's Dream Auction may not be happening in person this year, but there are still many impressive items and experiences up for bidding.

Several high-dollar items are already commanding a lot of attention.

We're featuring one each day this week.

Today's item offers a double bonus.

The mountain escape to Island Lake Lodge in Fernie is valued at $3,200.

It's donated by Nixon Wenger LLP, and the law firm will match the winning bid, up to $10,000, to the Paul Nixon Youth Legacy Fund.

The fund is a permanent endowment, administered through the Community Foundation of the North Okanagan that directs grants to support, educate and train local youth, with a focus on personal leadership and sustainable business models.

Experience four nights in deluxe accommodation with a $300 spa credit, $500 dining credit and more.

The current bid is $2,900.

"Your bid will have double the charity impact," Nixon Wenger says.

The auction had been scheduled for the Vernon Golf and Country Club on Nov. 20., but was cancelled due to continued COVID event restrictions.

The live-streamed portion of the event will continue, however.

You can place bids at https://kalrotary.eventgroovefundraising.com/kal-dream-auction – and there are many more affordable auction items as well.

The event is Kal Rotary’s main fundraising event of the year.

Over the past 36 years, the auction has raised more than $4.4 million for Rotary-supported projects.
