Vernon-based company celebrating World Kindness Day with free help around community

50 acts of kindness

To celebrate World Kindness Day this Saturday, a Vernon-based company is setting out to complete 50 acts of kindness.

Husband and wife team Ibriam and Adrianna Stange of Townships and Tales have integrated kindness into every aspect of their business.

“Our mission is to love people, inspire community, and promote small town adventures throughout British Columbia. Each season, we curate a subscription box filled with hand-made items from a different region within B.C., supporting towns with populations of less than 45,000 people. Each box is put together by hand, filled with love, and a step closer to our goal of making this province a kinder place,” says a statement on their website.

Each subscription box supports small town makers, and every purchase is paired with one act of kindness.

“We use a one-for-one model,” says Adrianna.

“We include a card with each order that describes the impact that your purchase made and who we were able to help. We’ve been able to help well over 100 people now, including requests for yard work, house cleaning, buying groceries, painting rooms, and even a roof repair on a mobile home Thanksgiving weekend.”

The duo is gearing up for a busy weekend helping others, and is turning to the community to offer their services.

“It’s a privilege to be able to serve the North Okanagan and support those who are supporting us. The more products we can sell through our website, the more small town makers we can order from, and the more individuals and families we can help,” said Adrianna.

“We don’t do it all ourselves, we often have friends and family join us, or local professionals who offer their services for free. We believe that this is more than e-commerce, it’s the start of a movement.”
