Former Westminster Kennel Club winner mourned by Enderby owner

Divine Miss P mourned

The owners and trainers of "The Divine Miss P" are mourning the death of the former best in show Westminster Kennel Club award winner.

"It’s taken a few days to be able to write this. Last Wednesday morning, a part of my heart was lost forever when I awoke to find Miss P asleep in her bed for the last time," co-owner Lori Crandlemire posted on Facebook.

The Enderby beagle was named 2014 Show Dog Of The Year and went on to win Best In Show at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club show in New York in 2015.

"No words can describe how devastating her passing has been to our family. Miss P was happy and healthy and lived each day to the fullest. Her personality was undeniable in and out of the ring from the day she was born. She was a princess, and she knew it," Crandlemire wrote.

"Miss P took us on an unforgettably wonderful journey. She introduced us to new places and people and forged friendships that will without a doubt last forever."

Miss P, short for Peyton, was only the second beagle to win the top prize at Westminster, America's most prominent dog show, following in the paw prints of her grand-uncle, Uno, who won best in show in 2008.

After her win, Miss P appeared on morning TV shows and even earned a walk-on part in the Broadway hit musical "Kinky Boots."
