There will be legion parade for Remembrance Day in Vernon this year, thanks to the continued COVID-19 pandemic.
First vice-president Larry Dubray says wreaths will be pre-placed at the cenotaph, but no vets will be in attendance.
The Legion branch wrapped up Legion Week by hosting a free barbecue over the weekend.
"It's our way to give back to the community that has supported us," said Dubray.
Aside from free burgers, chips and soft drinks on Saturday, the Legion also handed out cheques ranging from $3,000 to $8,000 to local cadet corps as a reward for their participation in Legion events over the past year.
Other recipients of funds have included Hospice House and the Schubert Centre.
"We host weekly meat draws as our major fundraiser," said Dubray.
Cheques were presented to 63 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps, 223 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron (Red Lion), 1705 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps (BC Dragoons), and 69 Navy League Cadet Corps (Okanagan).
