Vernon student named Canada West Golfer of the Week

UBC Okanagan’s Kendra Jones-Munk and Fraser Valley’s Jackson Jacob have been named the inaugural Canada West golfers of the week.

Both earned recognition for their play after recording top finishes at the University of Alberta Invitational last week, at Northern Bear Golf Course.

Vernon's Jones-Munk finished tied for first with Calgary’s Victoria Tse in the women's standings.

Jones-Munk’s performance was highlighted by an opening round 78 on Sunday, which helped UBCO take the team title at the event.

Jones-Munk finished the event with a plus-15 159 over two rounds (78-81).

Jacob claimed the men’s individual title by four shots after shooting a combined 141 (-3) over the two-day event.

The 2021 Canada West Championship, hosted by the UBC Thunderbirds, is set for Oct. 4-5 at Squamish Valley Golf Club.
