Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre will require proof of vaccination to attend performances

Vax proof needed for shows

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre will be holding events this month, but you need to be vaccinated to attend.

The VDPAC will be asking for proof of at least one COVID vaccination to catch a show.

“In keeping with current Public Health and extended Interior Health orders, proof of vaccination for COVID-19 (at least one dose) will be required of all patrons “ages 12 & up”, to attend this event. All patrons are also reminded of the province’s reinstated mandatory mask requirement for all indoor public events,” the VDPAC said in an email.

The province announced last week that it would be implementing a COVID passport system where only vaccinated people will be able to attend certain events, like live shows.

Mike Delamont’s Socially Distanced Stand Up Comedy Tour will take place Sept. 17 for shows at 5:30 and 8 p.m.

In the family-friendly act, Delamont talks about everything from marriage to foreign travel and confronting bidets in a hilarious evening of comedy.

Delamont is the third performer in VDPAC’s return to live performances with its SPOTLIGHT OnSTAGE Concert Series. With the audience seated cabaret-style on the Performing Arts Centre’s main stage, this unique setting allows audiences to relax and enjoy a socially distanced show in an ever-popular and more intimate live performance format.

On Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Jodie B, will take the stage for as the inaugural performer in VDPAC’s new FOCUS OnSTAGE Concert Series.

Jodie B opened VDPAC’s foray into online programming with Episode 1 of the free, bi-weekly “FOCUS Online Series,” which debuted in January. The overwhelming response to her performance quickly made her an online audience favourite and an inspiration for VDPAC to program live performance opportunities for Jodie B and other local and area artists featured in the original FOCUS Online Series—resulting in this new, special edition of VDPAC’s FOCUS OnSTAGE Concert Series to complement the Society’s established SPOTLIGHT OnSTAGE Concerts programming.

The FOCUS OnSTAGE Concert Series follows the same performance format, with the audience seated cabaret-style on the performing arts centre’s main stage.

Tickets for both shows can be purchased at Ticket Seller Box Office by calling 549-SHOW (7469) or online.
