Bunting Road wildfire continues to burn on east side of Mabel Lake

Little change at Mabel fire

There appears to be little change at the Bunting Road wildfire burning on the east side of Mabel Lake in the North Okanagan.

A Saturday night update from the BC Wildfire Service has the fire still listed as having burned an estimated 3,000 hectares.

It remains out of control.

On Saturday, the wildfire service reported some growth on the fire, but smoke limited visibility for air resources to accurately map it.

An evacuation order and alert remains in place for Mabel Lake Forest Service Road. The road is closed in the area of the fire, but access remains open to Mabel Lake Provincial Park, which is before the area closure.

The wildfire service had 13 personnel, two helicopters and multiple pieces of heavy equipment working on the fire Saturday.
