The show will go on at the Vernon Towne Theatre.
After surpassing a $75,000 goal and reaching a total of $100,000 through fundraising, the theatre was presented with a large cheque.
TD Bank was pleased to present the theatre with a donation of $3,000.
“We’re always looking for opportunities to give back,” said Doug Brayshaw, Manager at TD Bank, in the downtown branch.
“We went out and looked for opportunities to give back and here in Vernon, we wanted to help out the theatre.”
The manager at the Northend branch of TD Bank, Frances Kaminski, accompanied Brayshaw to present the giant cheque to Susan Hodgson and Judy Korol of the Okanagan Screen Arts Society.
Over the course of the summer, the theatre plans to make renovations to the building including an immediate fix to the digital projector, fixing the auditorium lighting system, purchasing a new point of sales system, installing new seats in the theatre, and repairs to the bathroom.
The non-profit OSA is expected to take over the building lease on Aug. 1, when the current theatre operator retires.
The theatre plans to reopen in September.
