Vernon family touched by outpouring of support after tragic loss

Overwhelmed by support

Support continues to pour for a Vernon family in mourning.

Scott Bailey was reported missing on May 31 and, after an extensive search, the body of the 41-year-old father of three was found in a forested area on June 3.

His death was not suspicious.

Since news of the tragedy became public, there has been a groundswell of support for his wife and children.

"We are overwhelmed with gratitude. Family, friends and strangers have taken care of our needs in ways we would have never imagined or expected," a post on the Support for the Baileys Facebook page states.

"This community is so incredibly generous. We feel like we have hundreds of arms wrapped around us. Even though we are in this dark storm, we have some peace in knowing that Scott is no longer suffering."

His family is also encouraging anyone who struggles with mental health issues to seek help.

"The biggest way to help is to reach out to someone who is struggling with their mental health. Be brave enough to listen to the dark and uncomfortable feelings that come with depression. It’s not easy. Get help if needed. Cry with them, but don’t forget to laugh with them when things are funny."

A GoFundMe has been launched to help the family meet financial obligations and has brought in more than $26,000.
