The North Okanagan Naturalists Club (NONC) presented its first ever Nature Award to Rob Buchanan and recognized him as a Champion of Nature.
Buchanan is a Life Science Teacher with the Academy of Inquiry and Adventure - Okanagan (AIAO).
He is a member of the BC Science Teachers’ Association and teaches at Clarence Fulton Secondary School in Vernon.
“NONC commends Rob for his commitment to bring nature and youth together in the beautiful outdoors of the North Okanagan,” said club present Marnie Williamson.
Buchanan was thrilled to be the first recipient of this award from the NONC.
“I’m grateful to be able to facilitate weekly formative experiences in nature with AIAO students and I’m always blown away by all the support from organizations and local experts willing to share their time and knowledge with us. I’m hopeful outdoor education will continue to grow and be supported in School District 22,” said Buchanan.
The NONC Nature Award is a non-monetary award given by the North Okanagan Naturalists Club, and presented to an individual, group, organization, institution or business whose actions and achievements have shown significant environmental leadership and contribution.
