One of the great things about living in the Okanagan is the weather.
Sunny skies and the wonders of nature call for outdoor activities from hiking to biking and local bike enthusiast Bruce Mol has some tips to keep your bike safe.
Mol is an avid cyclist with his own YouTube channel dedicated to bicycling.
In a video that was posted to the Vernon & Area Community Forum Page, Mol talks about how 529 Garage can help keep your bike safe.
“Bike theft and the resale of stolen bikes is a big problem around the world,” Mol said adding the 529 Garage is a database that can help find stolen bikes or prevent someone from buying a stolen bike.
“It’s easy to register your bike to discourage theft, make it easier to recover your bike.”
Mol, who is an active transportation advocate and educator, as well as an author, has produced several cycling videos, including one with Racheal Zubick of the Community Safety Office where she walked Mol through the registration process.
Mol urges people to go to the 529 Garage website or download the app and register a bike “in as little as four minutes. Many bike shops can help you and in Vernon, you can make an appointment to register your bike at the Community Safety Office by calling 250-550-7840.”
