The North Okanagan Community Chaplaincy collaborated with the Salvation Army to provide meals to the community over the long weekend.
On Friday, they served hamburgers and turkey soup was served on Sunday. Monday is bacon, eggs and pancakes.
“Our main focus is to build relationships, to build a community with no judgement, we take people as they are,” said the Community Chaplain Chuck Harper. “Our guys and gals come here and they know they’re part of a community and they feel accepted and respected.”
The organization followed COVID-19 safety protocols for the events including social distancing, spaced out seating arrangements and hand washing stations.
The North Okanagan Community Chaplaincy was one of three organizations that are making sure no one goes hungry this Easter.
Saturday Street Lunch in conjunction with the Anglican Church, and Feed the Streets also provided several meals to those in need, which started on Good Friday.
