6,000-square-foot juicing facility proposed for Highway 6 by VegPro

Juice plant proposed

Coldstream councillors will consider an application to build a 6,000-square-foot juicing facility at 10036 Ricardo Rd.

The proponents seek a development permit that is recommended by district staff.

Plan B Contractors Inc. applied on behalf of Okanagan Mobile Juicing and Juicing Dot Systems to construct and operate the facility on the property previously owned by Coldstream Ranch and adjacent to the VegPro production plant.

The facility would produce 500,000 to 800,000 litres of juice annually and would be used to "co-pack" juices for third parties.

The property is located within the Agricultural Land Reserve, but is zoned for general industrial use.

Site plans have been drawn up by Hans P. Neumann Architect Inc.

Council will consider conditions at its meeting this evening, including parking, landscaping, setbacks

The parcel size is 1.09 hectares, or approximately 2.7 acres.

An application to the Agricultural Land Commission for non-farm use was approved in October 2020.

The company is looking to expand its business, which takes raw fruit from local farms and turns it into pasteurized, packaged juice ready for store shelves. Juicing Dot Systems is the North American distributor for Kreuzmayr fruit processing machinery.
