Free downtown Vernon pick-up spots extended; feedback 'overwhelmingly positive'

Pick-up spots extended

Temporary curbside pick-up locations in downtown Vernon have been extended for another three months.

The free-parking pick-up spots went into effect in December, to help with businesses' curbside pick-up services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The free, 10-minute parking zones are intended for customers of nearby restaurants, retailers, and other businesses to quickly and safely pick up purchases. Those who need to stay longer than the 10- minute time limit need to park elsewhere.

The pilot was scheduled to end on Feb. 27, but has been extended until May 31, due to "overwhelmingly positive feedback," the City of Vernon says in a press release.

Curbside pick-up locations are marked by signs on parking meters and can be found on the city’s interactive map.

Locations may change from time to time, as conditions change.
