Vernon Toyota gifts new Corolla to NOYFSS

Revving up good vibes

Since the mid-1970s, NOYFSS has helped countless thousands of families in the region.

And thanks to a local car dealership, the North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society got some help themselves.

Vernon Toyota has donated a 2020 Toyota Corolla to the agency that offers numerous programs for families and youths.

“This is huge,” said Dean Francks, NOYFSS executive director. “I want to point out this is a 100 per cent donation. It will help us transport young people and families alike up and down the Valley to appointments, assessments, job interviews, to reunite families and to help families that don't have access to reliable transportation.”

Francks said NOYFSS sees more than 1,200 families a year. The downtown office, where the car will be stationed, there are 35 counsellors that work in the community on an outreach model.

Steve Russell, Vernon Toyota sales manager, said the donation was in collaboration with Toyota Canada.

Russell said the Cars for Good program is fairly new to Toyota Canada and helping groups like NOYFSS is what the program is all about.

“It gives us the ability to donate a car to give a car to a great organization like NOYFSS,” said Russe
