A man was found dead in Lumby a few hours after he was reported missing.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C., the province's police watchdog, is investigating the incident to determine the role, if any, that the RCMP played in the death.
"The man was reported missing last night, and was found deceased a few hours later in the early hours of this morning," says Ron MacDonald, chief civilian director of the IIO. "The death itself is not being deemed as suspicious."
Since the man died while part of a police-related matter, it is IIO protocol to investigate any potential factors that could have come into play.
The IIO opened its investigation on Dec. 29, and will update the public once the investigation is complete.
