Vernon Search and Rescue helped stuck trail groomer at Silver Star

VSAR to the rescue

Technology helped save the day for a groomer operator on the snowmobile trails on Silver Star Mountain.

Vernon Search and Rescue received a request for help late Sunday afternoon when the grooming machine experienced mechanical problems.

“Luckily, we had three SAR members on the mountain already riding the Vernon Snowmobile Association trails. The team was able to respond quickly and transported the operator out of the area within an hour,” VSAR posted on its Facebook page.

“We would like to note that the operator utilized the Garmin inReach in the groomer to call for help in an area of no cell reception, these devices save time for SAR members in rescue situations and make our job much easier.”

VSAR remind the public not to hesitate to call for help, if needed.

The groomer was unaffiliated with Silver Star Mountain Resort.
