Young man's body pulled from north end of Okanagan Lake

Body retrieved from lake

RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the discovery of human remains in Okanagan Lake on Sunday, near Vernon.

About 7:30 a.m., a member of the public noticed the body floating offshore in the north end of the lake, in the Westside Road area.

Police retrieved the body of a 21-year-old man from the water.

Cpl. Tania Finn says personal items belonging to the victim were located on shore, and next of kin have been notified. There is no evidence of criminality in the death.

The BC Coroners Service is conducting an independent investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means the man came to his unexpected death.
