A new trail east of Vernon is now open to the public

New trail now open to hike

There's a new trail in town that is now open for use.

Ribbons of Green Trails Society, a non-profit trail advocacy organization for Greater Vernon, is promoting the opening of the new section of the Boss Creek Trails.

A trail connection was built linking the Coldstream Valley Estates and Boss Creek trail segments on Vernon Hill. Located east of Vernon, the trail has a bit of a climb but it has some excellent views. You will be able to see views of the valley, the city, the lakes and wildlife.

"There are many Saskatoon bushes and, depending upon the season, lots of wildflowers," says Ingrid Neumann, director of Ribbons of Green Trails Society. "Birds are abound in the vegetation and the sky."

There are a number of private properties in the area, so be sure to pay attention to signage and to stay on the trail. Galiano Road is part of the trail for a short distance, but you will see a sign to instruct you to sharply turn
right onto a driveway and then follow a constructed trail to Boss Creek Road.

"Boss Creek Road is a newer road, accessed off the east end of McLeish Road and a trail parking lot has been built there," says Neumann.

For more information on the new trail and for an interactive map, you can visit the Ribbons of Green Trails Society's website. For a traditional map, you can see it below.
