Make sure you have your change handy, because free parking downtown is now over.
All on-street metered parking and two-hour parking zones are now being enforced by bylaw.
Vernon council originally eliminated paid metered downtown parking in April in hopes to drum up more customers for downtown businesses that were still open during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that B.C. has entered into Phase 3 of its reopening plan, more people are frequenting downtown and parking needs have increased.
City surface lots remained as pay lots during the pandemic, and will continue as such. For more information on parking in the City of Vernon, click here.
