Vernon's Polson Park partially reopens after flooding

Polson Park partially open

After some flooding earlier this week, Polson Park in downtown Vernon is now open again to vehicle traffic.

The park has been closed to traffic since June 30 when heavy rainfall caused the Vernon creek to overflow and cause localized flooding in the park.

"Pedestrians and cyclists are reminded that the groundwater level in the park remains high and portions of the park are still very wet," says the City of Vernon in a press release. "For everyone’s safety, park users are asked to stay off the turf and away from the water and creek banks."

The Polson Park playground, spray park and nearby washrooms will remain closed until further notice due to groundwater issues. City workers are also clearing water from the skateboard park which flooded.

Washrooms at the Pavilion are still open for public use.
