Standoff ends with tear gas

UPDATE: 10:47 a.m.

Witnesses tell Castanet police were on scene from about 8 p.m. Saturday night until 2:30 a.m., with multiple witness reports of police using tear gas on the suspect until he came out of the building.

Susan Rowbottom told Castanet that after six hours of flashbangs, loudspeakers and sirens the man came out and was taken into custody.

Castanet has reached out to RCMP for comment.

There are reports of police action in Enderby early Sunday morning.

Castanet has been told several RCMP surrounded an Enderby hotel in what some said was a standoff with police.

“Police surrounded the hotel looking for the bad guy. They shot flash bangs and tear gas in and he came out gagging,” said one post on the Happens in Enderby Facebook page.

Castanet has reached out to RCMP for comment.
