Vernon chamber teams with GC program to help restaurants

GC program aims to help

The Greater Vernon Chamber has partnered with an online gift certificate program to help local restaurants struggling in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

All restaurants and pubs have been limited to take-out and delivery service only to slow the spread of the virus.

"We have been looking for many ways to support businesses through these difficult times and have created a partnership with FanSaves to be part of the FanSaves Helps Gift Certificate Program," the chamber says in a bulletin to members.

The program allows people to buy gift certificates without leaving home. The businesses can be open, closed or offering limited services, and the buyers can use the gift certificates in the future, once things get back to normal.

FanSaves offered the service for free, the chamber says.

Once a digital gift certificate is purchased through the website, the restaurant will receive a unique code and money will be transferred via direct deposit or e-transfer within 14 days (minus any credit card transaction fees).

Once restaurants reopen, the buyer can print off the gift certificate and redeem it.

The FanSaves site allows businesses across Canada to feature their gift certificates in one place.
