Vernon council eliminates paid metered parking until April 27

Vernon city council unanimously decided to eliminate paid metered parking for the next four weeks.

Council held a special meeting on Tuesday to decide on the matter. This motion suspends bylaw enforcement of all metered parking and two hour parking across the city.

The only exception to the rule is if there is a safety concern to the parking job, which will then allow bylaw to intervene.

The elimination of paid metered parking and the two hour limit will be in effect until April 27 when council reconvenes, and will be revisited on that date.
