Teresa Durning is named one of Vernon's Top 20 Over 40

Building Vernon's tourism

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce has released its Top 20 Over 40 list for 2020, and Castanet will be featuring all of the honourees.

When it comes to tourism in Vernon, Teresa Durning plays a pivotal role.

She is the owner of Durning Direction & Service, which is on contract from the City of Vernon for running visitor services in the tourism sector. This is a role she takes very seriously, since she takes a real pride in the Vernon community.

"I am committed to Vernon's growth and evolution, and to give 100 per cent in my efforts to ensure that I successfully give back to my community," Durning says. "When I am not busy promoting or volunteering, I can be found enjoying the beauty of the Okanagan that we advertise."

Durning's volunteer work has proven to be vital to her employment. She finds it is a good way to stay up to date on what is happening in the community.

"I can use my volunteer time to find out what is happening, and then promote that to tourists," she says. "I take pride in providing current and accurate information to people visiting our great city."

The Chamber's Top 20 Over 40 is sponsored by KPMG, the Regional District of North Okanagan and Castanet.
