The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce has released its Top 20 Over 40 list, and Castanet will be featuring all of the honourees.
Wonder Woman has nothing on Deb White.
The Vernon entrepreneur not only runs a successful mortgage company, she is active in a multitude of boards and community organizations.
White runs White House Mortgages and is one of the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce Top 20 over 40 nominees.
“We have been here for 15 years and I opened it up because I didn't like what I overheard at the old company I was at,” said White.
And as if running a business isn't challenging enough, White is also very active in the community.
She just completed a 10-year volunteer run with the Vernon Winter Carnival, where she sat as chairperson for the past five years.
She was also on the Funtastic board, Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce as well as numerous other committees that benefit the community such as the Allan Brooks Nature Centre and Dancing with the Vernon Stars.
“I love Vernon. I love my community and I got involved in the community because the community was there for me in my time of need,” said White. “One of my children was seriously injured almost 20 years ago and Vernon was there to help me, so I get involved in as many events as I can.”
White is officially stepping down from her volunteer duties with the Vernon Winter Carnival, she will not be resting on her laurels anytime soon.
“I have a few things in the fire,” she said citing a long list of boards and volunteering projects she is involved in.
