Community Association seeks roof for Lavington ice rink

Proponents are seeking $50,000 from the District of Coldstream to put a roof over a Lavington ice rink.

The Lavington Community Association asked Coldstream council on Monday to support its efforts to place a steel roof over the Jeffers Park outdoor rink.

"This is a community facility," said the association's Bronwyn Watson.

The group has already raised $167,000 towards a $300,000 project goal.

The association says a roof will reduce ice preparation time, and that the concrete slab could be used for other events outside winter.

Council will consider the request as part of its 2020 budget deliberations.
