Timeline set for plan to redevelop former Kin Race Track lands

Plan on track for Kin

A vision for Vernon's former Kin Race Track lands may still be a long way off – but it's starting to come into focus.

Timelines have been established to develop a plan for the vacant site, which was the subject of legal wrangling between the Okanagan Equestrian Society and City of Vernon for years.

Buildings on the site were demolished last year, leaving its future a big question mark.

On Monday, Vernon city council received a comprehensive plan process and timeline for the 43rd Avenue property.

"We look forward to work being done on Kin Race Track," said Mayor Victor Cumming.

Steps in the process will include a flood mapping and mitigation study, a geotechnical site analysis, public engagement, and a conceptual design.

A plan is expected to be presented to council by June or July of 2021.
