Kal SS holding presentation to educate parents on teen violence

Spot teen dating violence

Since February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month, Kal PAC is hosting a parent conference to raise awareness and educate parents on recognizing the signs of teen dating violence.

"This is an issue that impacts everyone – not just teens – but their parents, friends, teachers and communities as well," says Kal PAC President Kelli Sullivan. "Together, we can raise awareness about teen dating violence and sexual assault and promote safe, healthy relationships."

The presentation will be taking place on February 26 at Kalamalka Secondary School at 6:30 p.m. The presentation is called 'Talking to Your Teen About Healthy Relationships', and it will focus on giving parents tips on talking to their teenage children about healthy relationships, consent and sexual activity. Parents will also be taught about the identifying the warning signs of dating violence, and what to do if your child is sexually assaulted.

The presentation is free for all District 22 parents and interested adults. For more information, you can email Kelli Sullivan at [email protected].
