The biggest party of the year is less than two weeks away.
The 60th annual Vernon Winter Carnival kicks off on Feb. 7 with a slate of new events and old favourites.
Carnival is reviving some historic events as well for the milestone carnival.
“We are getting so excited,” said Vicki Proulx, with carnival. “Tickets are selling fast, so I wouldn't wait too long if you are looking to get some event tickets.”
The proclamation of Queen Silver Star will happen on Feb. 6 with carnival getting underway the next day with a big event planned for the Kin Race Track grounds.
“We have a whole fire and ice theme happening,” Proulx said of the grand opening. “We'll have fireworks; we're going to have fire dancers, carnival-style entertainment, food vendors and we are going to have a big snowflake display in the snow too so it's going to be a really cool event.
