At least two cases of loosened lug nuts in Vernon last week

Ingrid Baron is warning people that someone is running around loosening lug nuts on vehicles.

Baron said she heard of at least two incidents at the Shoparama event at the recreation complex last weekend.

A third person noticed all of the lug nuts on one tire were loose on their vehicle, but could not say for sure if it happened at the recreation complex.

Baron is confident the other two did happen while the vehicles were parked at the recreation complex.

“And those are just the ones we heard about,” said Baron, noting there were other events taking place at the complex last weekend and it is possible other cars may have been targeted.

Baron said two people reported to her their vehicles were making a strange noise after leaving the complex only to discover the lug nuts had been loosened.

This is the first time Baron has heard of something like this happening at one of the many events she organizes.

Baron said at least one of the incidents was reported to the Vernon RCMP.

Castanet has reached out to police for comment.

There were several reported instances of lug nuts being loosened in Kelowna and West Kelowna over the past few months.
