Charges have been filed against two people for Falkland incident

Attempted murder charges

Charges have been filed against two people who allegedly shot at police near Westwold Tuesday.

Darwyn Allen Curtis Sellars and Patricia Singleton are facing multiple charges including three counts of attempted murder with a firearm.

Sellars and Singleton made their first court appearances in Vernon Wednesday.

Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy said on Dec. 3, just before 8 a.m., police were notified of a suspicious vehicle in the Falkland area.

“RCMP officers controlled access to the highway and strategically set up roadblocks in an attempt to safely stop the vehicle,” said Noseworthy. “The driver failed to stop for police and allegedly fired shots from the vehicle as it fled from our officers, posing a serious risk to public safety.

“With the use of a tire-deflation device, police officers were able to bring the vehicle to a stop just east of Westwold, where two occupants were taken into custody without further incident.”

Witnesses told Castanet up to 19 shots were fired.
