A teepee with crystal-encrusted artwork was unveiled at Sparkling Hill Resort on the weekend to celebrate Indigenous heritage in the Okanagan.
The teepee features 16 unique pieces of artwork depicting different stories and lessons from the Indigenous community. Each one has Swarovski crystals throughout to bring a dazzle and gleam to them.
"I have been friends with Mr. Swarovski for quite some time now, and when he told me about this I almost cried," says Stephen Cipes. "I was lucky to recommend my friend Moose to be the artist to design these pieces."
Moose was near speechless when asked what it was like to be a part of a project like this.
"It's still sinking in," says Ron "Moose" Hall. "Actually seeing it in person made me realize that this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity."
Cipes said in his speech that he hopes for a possibility that a teepee similar to the one at Sparkling Hill could be constructed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, to celebrate Indigenous heritage on a global scale.
