Vernon city council has received a request from the Downtown Vernon Association to install security cameras in the downtown core.
The Association asked for $22,000 to go towards the security camera grant program.
A similar program in 2016 gave $11,000 to downtown businesses to install or upgrade their security surveillance systems.
The businesses paid half of the cost and the grant covered the other half.
The video cameras aim to help RCMP and bylaw officers with security and investigations.
