DSA & Women Who Wine host event to help those less fortunate

'Clothing for Community'

Downtown Salmon Arm and the Shuswap Women Who Wine have partnered up to host their Clothing for Community event, as part of the Downtown Cares program.

Clothing for Community will take place on Oct 29 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Salmar Classic Theatre.

This initiative was started to support the Lighthouse Shelter, SAFE Society and CMHA for the winter season, which is when shelters usually need help the most.

Volunteers will be collecting winter clothing for all ages and genders, non-perishable food and hygiene items.

There will also be pre-packed Essential Items Kits that can be donated for $10.

There will also be a women's clothing swap starting at 5 p.m. on the same night.

Those who will be taking part are asked to drop off between 2-10 clothing items, shoes and/or accessories at Prisa Lighting or the Downtown Salmon Arm office between Oct 21-26.

You will be given tickets to swap at the event on the 29th based on how many items you contributed.
