Just a skiff at SilverStar

You can unload those skis and snowboards from the roof rack.

Despite a blizzard of excitement over heavy early season snowfalls at ski resorts across southern B.C. and Alberta over the weekend, only a skiff clung to the top of the Comet lift at SilverStar Monday afternoon.

"As of now, the snow is still visible, although if temperatures do warm up this week the snow could very likely melt," said Chantelle Deacon, communications and sponsorship manager for SilverStar Mountain Resort.

"When I arrived at the mountain this morning, nice big snowflakes were falling, but it stopped snowing around noon."

While Apex Mountain fans were drooling over 50 cms of snowfall, SilverStar regulars had to be content to snap up the early bird lift ticket deals over the weekend.

The season at SilverStar is expected to jump out of the gates on Nov. 15 for Nordic skiing and Nov. 28 for downhill.
