There seems to be some debate as to exactly what this monstrosity is.
On Saturday, Castanet featured a large orange and black spider spotted by Justice Barker that was as large as his hand.
Once again Castanet asked readers what they thought it was and the answers varied.
A couple of readers thought the beast was a large garden spider, with one reader saying they are quite common in the area.
That is not good news for us arachnophobes.
Others believed it to be a wasp spider, which is not native to the area.
Another popular opinion is the spider is an orb spider, while one reader suggested it was a fishing spider.
So for now, I think we will have to agree the spider is big, scary and creepy.
